PRODUCT CODE: Capsules with betamethasone 0.25 mg – 20 cps
Pharmacological properties
- Betamethasone phosphate is a small molecule corticosteroid recommended for oral administration. It is highly soluble in water, therefore the risk of causing local gastric irritation is reduced, compared to other forms of betamethasone (e.g. valerate, dipropionate) which are intended for topical administration. It reaches its maximum systemic effect within a few hours of administration, compared to other betamethasone salts (e.g. valerate, propionate) which may exert their effect several weeks after ingestion.
Betamethasone phosphate does not directly cause salt and water retention in the body, thus significantly reducing the risk of edema and high blood pressure.
