Recurrent cystitis

Recurrent cystitis

- Urinary discomfort that may recur frequently -

Recurrent cystitis is inflammation of the bladder, usually associated with frequent bacterial infections, causing significant discomfort. The condition affects quality of life, especially due to the frequency of symptoms and possible recurrences.

How does it manifest itself?

Symptoms may include:
  • frequent urination
  • pain or burning when urinating
  • feeling of a full bladder
  • disconfort abdominal inferior
  • cloudy or foul-smelling urine
In recurrent forms, the patient may develop anxiety related to the recurrence of symptoms.

Causes and Mechanism

The main cause is bacterial colonization of the urinary tract, frequently with E. coli. Contributing factors include inadequate hygiene, urinary retention, imbalances in vaginal flora, diabetes, or minor immunodeficiency. Inflammation of the bladder mucosa increases local sensitivity and promotes a burning sensation.

Compounded treatments

Compounded treatments can support mucosal repair and reduce discomfort:
  • soothing and anti-inflammatory agents: pantenol, dexpanthenol
  • emollients and protective bases: which form a protective layer over the mucosa
  • gentle local antiseptics
  • urinary alkalinizing agents
These formulations allow concentrations and the vehicle to be adjusted according to symptom severity and patient tolerance.
