Pharmacological properties
- Urotropin (hexamethylenetetramine, methenamine, hexamine) is a substance with antiseptic and disinfectant properties depending on the dose. It is a bacteriostatic that is active against most bacteria that cause urinary infections: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella aerogenes, Pseudomonas, etc.
- Due to its mechanism of action and chemical structure, urotropin does not determine bacterial resistance, so it can be administered in long-term treatments.Observation: The preparation is recommended as long-term maintenance treatment after antibiotic administration has ended.Upon doctor's advice, it can also be administered to children in specific personalized concentrations and pharmaceutical forms.

- Please inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken other medications or compounded preparations, including those without a prescription, if you are undergoing other treatments or if you have suffered from other conditions such as kidney failure, gout or severe liver failure.
- It is not recommended for use in Proteus infections, as it can hydrolyze urea and thus form ammonium hydroxide, thereby making the urine alkaline and preventing the appearance of active formaldehyde.
- Concomitant administration with sulfonamides, antibiotics active in alkaline urine or alkalinizing agents, thiazide diuretics, antacid drugs/substances, sodium bicarbonate, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors is not recommended, as they may influence the effectiveness of the treatment.
- The preparation contains gluten. In case of intolerance, you can request a gluten-free preparation.
- The preparation does not contain lactose.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use the compounded preparation after the expiration date.
