Pharmacological properties

  • Buspirone is a non-benzodiazepine anxiolytic that acts as a partial agonist of 5-HT1A receptors, exerting its effects by modulating the serotonergic system. This effect causes a reduction in serotonin turnover and a decrease in serotonergic neuronal transmission.
  • Unlike benzodiazepines, buspirone has no muscle relaxant or anticonvulsant action, and its sedative action is significantly lower compared to other anxiolytics and does not influence psychomotor functions.

Warnings and precautions

The therapeutic approach must be individualized by the doctor, taking into account the severity and type of symptoms.

  • Please follow the administration recommended in the prescription!
  • Personalized treatments can be modified depending on your state of health and compliance with the treatment.
  • Do not use more product or more often than recommended.
  • This preparation was prescribed only for the current pathology.
  • Do not use it later for another condition without the doctor's consent.
  • It is recommended, during long-term treatments, a correct and complete communication with the doctor, in order to be able to change the dose according to the evolution of the disease.
  • It is not recommended to take the preparation in case of sensitivity or allergy to the active substance.
  • Do not use more or less than the dose prescribed by your doctor.
  • Taking buspirone concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) may pose a danger due to increased blood pressure, so it is recommended that buspirone should not be taken concomitantly with an MAOI.
  • Administration to children under 18 years of age is not recommended.
  • Inform your doctor if you suffer from liver failure, kidney failure, acute angle-closure glaucoma or myasthenia gravis. In these cases, buspirone hydrochloride should be administered with caution.
  • Buspirone hydrochloride should not be administered as a sole therapy in the treatment of depression.
  • Alcohol consumption during treatment should be avoided.
  • The anxiolytic effect becomes evident 7-14 days after starting treatment.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Do not use the compounded preparation after the expiration date.
