Pharmacological properties
Dexametazona este un glucocorticoid sintetic potent, cu activitate antiinflamatoare si imunosupresoare pronuntata, avand in acelasi timp efecte mineralocorticoide minime.
Proprietati principale:
- Inhiba secreția de ACTH la nivel hipofizar, ceea ce permite evaluarea capacitatii suprarenalelor de a modula secretia de cortizol.
- Nu interfereaza semnificativ cu testele de dozare a cortizolului, ceea ce o face ideala pentru probele endocrine.
- Prezinta durata lunga de actiune, permitand evaluarea supresiei a doua zi.
- Se absorbe bine oral si actioneaza sistemic.

Indicatia trebuie stabilita exclusiv de medicul endocrinolog.
- Se administreaza exact conform instrucțiunilor medicului, de regula seara, in jurul orei 23:00, pentru testul de supresie de 1 mg.
- Capsulele nu trebuie dublate sau repetate daca o doza este omisa – se contacteaza medicul.
- Interactiuni posibile: inductori/ inhibitori enzimatici (fenitoina, rifampicina, ketoconazol) care pot modifica nivelurile dexametazonei, antidiabetice orale, antiinflamatoare nesteroidiene ce cresc riscul de iritatie gastrica.
- Sarcina si alaptare: administrarea se face doar daca medicul decide ca este necesar.
