Naltrexona este un antagonist competitiv al receptorilor opioizi μ, κ și δ, fără proprietăți agoniste sau euforizante.
Proprietăți principale:
- Blochează efectele opioidelor (analgezice opioide, heroină, morfină), prevenind apariția euforiei sau efectelor recompensatorii.
- Reduce cravingul pentru alcool, prin modularea sistemelor opioide implicate în recompensă și comportamentul adictiv.
- Efect prelungit, ceea ce permite administrarea zilnică sau la intervale stabilite de specialist.
- Nu produce dependență și nu are potențial de abuz.
