Adjuvant effects:
Vitamin D3:
- Supports the normal functioning of the innate and acquired immune system through
activation of T and B lymphocytes, but also of certain protein compounds and cathelicidins with antimicrobial action. The active form of Vitamin D3 regulates the function of cathelicidins, expressed in various cell types such as: macrophages, keratinocytes, pulmonary epithelial cells and also supports the production of cytokines.
- It contributes to the proper functioning of the skeletal and muscular systems due to increased absorption of minerals (calcium and phosphorus). It is involved in the normal development of skeletal muscles and in supporting muscle performance and strength by increasing the expression of skeletal factors (VEGF, insulin-like growth factor-1, etc.). It also supports cell sensitivity to insulin and the activity of pancreatic beta cells, responsible for the production and secretion of insulin.
Vitamin K2:
- It supports bone health by binding calcium, forming bones, and activating the vitamin K2-dependent protein called osteocalcin.
Creating synergy between vitamins D3 and K2 is essential for bone health, vitamin D3 supports the expression of osteocalcin, while vitamin K2 is necessary to provide support in its activation.
- It supports cardiovascular health by activating Matrix Gla protein, which helps inhibit calcium entry into soft tissues (e.g. arterial walls) and the formation of calcified fibrous plaque. Vitamin K2 also supports the proper functioning of the innate and adaptive immune system by balancing the cell signaling complex (nuclear factor kappa-B).
