The preparation and dispensing of the compounded treatment is done only based on a doctor's prescription. The preparation and release time is between 1 and 3 days. Mucoadhesive nasal ointment with mupirocin 2% compounded in the clean room laboratory is mainly used for nasal infections with sensitive microorganisms, especially methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

A mucoadhesive delivery system can facilitate better release of the preparation by creating a strong bond with the body's mucosa, which ensures a superior quality of the preparation and at the same time of the treatment, as well as improving the patient experience.

The base used in the compounding of this treatment has clinical studies and rheological evaluations regarding its mucoadhesive properties.

✓In the pharmaceutical compounding process, only high purity active substances are used, in compliance with the RBPF (Rules of Good Pharmaceutical Practice). The use of capsules or standardized drugs is excluded from this compounding process.

Pharmacological properties

  • Mupirocin has bacteriostatic properties at low concentrations and bactericidal properties at higher concentrations achieved when applied topically. Due to its unique mechanism of action and chemical structure, mupirocin does not show any cross-resistance with other clinically available antibiotics. It is effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Warnings and precautions

The therapeutic approach must be individualized by the doctor, taking into account the severity and type of symptoms.

  • Please follow the administration recommended in the prescription!
  • Personalized treatments can be modified depending on your state of health and compliance with the treatment.
  • Do not use more product or more often than recommended.
  • This preparation was prescribed only for the current pathology.
  • Do not use it later for another condition without the doctor's consent.
  • It is recommended, during long-term treatments, a correct and complete communication with the doctor, in order to be able to change the dose according to the evolution of the disease.
  • It is not recommended to take the preparation in case of sensitivity or allergy to the active substance.
  • It is recommended that the use of the preparation in children be carried out under the close supervision of an adult.
  • It is not recommended for use in children under 6 months of age without the consent of a doctor.
  • Prolonged use of the preparation is not recommended, because, as with other antibacterial preparations, it may lead to overgrowth of susceptible microorganisms.
  • It is not recommended to blow your nose for 15 minutes after administering the preparation.
  • It is not recommended to administer other preparations without the consent of the doctor. Mucoadhesive nasal ointment should not be administered concurrently with other nasal ointments or active substances to avoid dilution of the ointment which could alter its efficacy and stability.
  • Interruption of treatment or occasional administration is not recommended, increasing the risk of developing resistance to the active substance.
  • Formulated without flavors, dyes, gluten, parabens, alcohol, PEGs, preservatives or latex.
  • Compounded without ingredients of animal origin.
  • The preparation does not contain lanolin.
  • Keep out of reach of children. 
  • Do not use the compounded preparation after the expiration date.
